1 June 2011 - Enhanced security status attracts new business and helps vehicle recovery company expand

A leading Glasgow vehicle recovery business is prospering thanks an electrified security fencing system from Harper Chalice, which has solved a damaging crime problem overnight.

With the assurance of complete security provided by the PulseSecure system over the last 18 months, 911 Vehicle Recovery has just opened a second vehicle storage centre and is moving ahead with plans for further growth.

And as another major benefit 911’s enhanced security status is a definite selling point, particularly with customers such as the police, confirms the company’s owner and Managing Director Stephen Greenhorn.

“We’re already winning new business thanks to our improved security, because we can properly guarantee to protect the vehicles in our care.”

The company previously had to deal with regular attacks by thieves and vandals attempting to steal, damage or destroy vehicles – all these attacks have now stopped completely.

The Harper Chalice system was installed by Principal Security and Stephen Greenhorn now describes it as “the best business investment that I’ve ever made”.

The PulseSecure can be fence-mounted, wall-mounted or even fitted across buildings and roof-tops. It works by repelling would-be intruders with a painful but regulated-safe electric shock.

Any attempt to bypass or tamper with the system triggers an immediate alarm, it works in all weather conditions, at all hours, and is not prone to false alarms.

Most importantly it provides a powerful psychological barrier to intruders and anyone foolish enough to ignore the warning signs is immediately repelled by a painful pulsed shock.

“Unlike measures such as CCTV or alarms the PulseSecure system provides immediate, active protection – it hits back at criminals - in fact it is now officially the most secure technology of this kind available,” explains Maurice Head, director of Principal Security. “This system stood up to rigorous professional attack testing by UK government agencies when it was assessed over nine months during 2010. It out-performed all its competitors.”

With the proven security provided by the system at 911’s original Strathclyde vehicle storage centre, Stephen Greenhorn was able to open a second vehicle compound, confident that it would be fully protected by PulseSecure technology installed by Principal Security.

Graham Harper, MD of Harper Chalice, says electrified perimeter systems are now playing an increasingly important role in helping small and medium-sized businesses to prosper in tough economic times.

“As ‘big theft’ becomes more of a problem, businesses that store high value items are having to take security more seriously,” he says. “We are seeing commercial organisations relying less on ‘soft’ measures such as alarms and CCTV and opting to strengthen their physical site security with active systems that actually prevent break ins.”

Maurice Head agrees – he predicts that rising fuel costs, hardship caused by unemployment and spending cuts, will make businesses more vulnerable attack.
“With commodities such as fuel becoming like gold dust traditional security systems will not provide adequate protection. Cameras are fine but without any physical protection all they do is let you watch people breaking in.”

Faced with more determined criminals, he believes that the latest generation of electrified perimeter systems provides the answer that end-users really want.

“People now understand that electrified fencing is totally legal and completely safe – and would-be criminals have learnt not to touch it.”

PulseSecure systems are available in a variety of configurations, with a flexibility that makes them suitable for all sites, from light commercial and residential up to maximum security.
